“The room as the third pedagogue” (Loris Malaguzzi)
At the beginning of September, the piarists were able to open another day care group in the Maria Treu elementary school. Quality afternoon care is becoming increasingly important as the parents work full-time.
The Piarists take up the challenges of the time and have been intensively devoting themselves to the steady expansion of the day care centres at their locations for years. It is important for the Piarists to provide the children with rooms in the afternoon that will become their living space. Iris Wiesinger, head of day care Maria Treu: “We are all very happy about the new day care group. With this new nursery, we give the children opportunities to develop”. The planning was based on the children’s need for independence. Maria Treu’s 300-year-old school building was a challenge. It doesn’t offer infinite space. So a creative solution had to be found with which both children, educators and parents can enjoy. The new day care centre was therefore inserted in the corridor area of the school. The risk was worth it. The room finds great favor everywhere and is particularly successful.

Anfang September konnten die Piaristen in der Volksschule Maria Treu eine weitere Hortgruppe eröffnen. Immer wichtiger wird eine qualitätsvolle Nachmittagsbetreuung, da die Eltern Vollzeitberufstätig sind.
Die Piaristen greifen die Herausforderungen der Zeit auf und widmen sich seit Jahren intensiv dem stetigen Ausbau der Hortplätze an ihren Standorten. Für die Piaristen ist es wichtig den Kindern auch am Nachmittag Räume zur Verfügung zu stellen, die ihnen Lebensraum werden. Iris Wiesinger, Hortleiterin von Maria Treu: „Wir freuen uns alle sehr über die neue Hortgruppe. Durch diesen neuen Hortraum geben wir den Kindern Möglichkeiten sich zu entfalten.“ Die Planung orientierte sich am Bedürfnis der Kinder zur Selbstständigkeit. Eine Herausforderung war das 300 Jahre alte Schulgebäude von Maria Treu. Es bietet nicht unendlich viel Platz. So musste eine kreative Lösung gefunden werden, mit der sowohl Kinder, Pädagoginnen und Pädagogen sowie die Eltern eine Freude haben. Die neue Hortgruppe wurde daher im Gangbereich der Schule eingefügt. Das Wagnis hat sich gelohnt. Der Raum findet überall großes Gefallen und ist besonders gelungen.
