In the autumn of 2025, the Hungarian Province of the Order of the Pious Schools requested a special recognition for two outstanding ecclesial figures: Zsolt Marton, Bishop of Vác, and László Felföldi, Bishop of Pécs, who were welcomed into the spiritual family of the Order by means of the Piarist letter of brotherhood.
László Felföldi
On 25 November 2025, on the feast of the Patronage of Saint Joseph Calasanz, the Bishop of Pécs, László Felföldi, presided over a solemn Eucharistic celebration in the Piarist School of Kecskemét. At the end of the Holy Mass, Fr. Attila Nagy, Sch. P., Provincial Assistant, presented him with the letter of brotherhood, issued in Rome by the Father General of the Order, Carles Gil i Saguer Sch. P., as a recognition of his deep spiritual and community bond with the Order. The text of the diploma underlines that László Felföldi has, on numerous occasions, offered selfless help to the Order of the Pious Schools, repeatedly showing his closeness and affection. With this gesture, he is united even more closely to the great family of the Piarist community, to which he has remained faithful since his school days.
Zsolt Marton
On 8 December, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on the occasion of the consecration of the new chapel of the Piarist School of Vác, the letter of brotherhood was presented to Zsolt Marton, Bishop of Vác. The recognition was bestowed by the Provincial, Fr. Viktor Zsódi, Sch. P., and the diploma, likewise issued in Rome, acknowledges his service to the Piarist community and his generous and selfless support.
His Excellency Bishop Zsolt Marton, who celebrates his 60th birthday this month of March, began his vocational journey as an alumnus of the Piarist School of Kecskemét. He later served as rector of the Central Seminary and was subsequently appointed Bishop of Vác. With the recognition of the letter of brotherhood, the Order has officially welcomed him into its spiritual family, expressing its gratitude for his sincere, constant and faithful love.
A Fraternal Bond and Community Values
The Piarist letter of brotherhood expresses a spiritual and community bond that goes beyond formal ecclesiastical rank. With this gesture, the Order of the Pious Schools recognises the contribution of those pastors who, in their life and ministry, faithfully build up the Church and wholeheartedly support the educational, pastoral and community mission of the Order.
