This August 22, 2020 and anticipating the celebration of our founder Saint Joseph Calasanz, the beginning of the novitiate of the Vice-Province of the Californias will take place. That day, Albert Moliner, who made the pre-novitiate in the community of the parish of Carmen de Barcelona, and Javier Gómez, Wilver Benedicto Escobar and Joel Miranda who made the pre-novitiate in Los Angeles, will be received as Piarist novices by Fr Hilario Flores.
It is a great challenge for the Vice-Province to start this novitiate in which all the Vice- Province and every religious is committed. We must all feel co-responsible for the formation that these novices receive, together we will continue to give life to the Piarist vocation that we have received from Calasanz and which has come to us through so many Piarists that have preceded us in this dedication to children and young people especially those most in need.
The novitiate is a year dedicated fundamentally to discerning our own vocation to follow Jesus according to the charism of Calasanz that the Pious School embodies in every moment of history and in every place of our world.
Until now, our novices were trained in the novitiate of the Piarist Province of Mexico to which we are very grateful for all these years that they have provided us this service as Piarist brothers.
Together with our novitiate, this year, the novitiate of the Province of the United States and Puerto Rico begins. In addition, there are other Piarist novitiates in America: Mexico, as we have already said, Colombia and Argentina.
Let us pray that the Lord will continue to bless the Pious Schools and especially our Vice-Province with numerous vocations of both religious and lay people, at the service of Calasanz’ work in our task of educating among so many people who need it either in non-formal education and in school.
Mary of Guadalupe, be our companion on the way of each of the pre-novices and the whole community.
