From 18 to 27 March 2025, Father Félicien Mouendji Massongo, General Assistant for Africa, visited the Piarist confreres in Equatorial Guinea.

The Order is represented in four locations in this Central African country: Bata, the economic capital; Ebibeyin, a border town with Cameroon and Gabon; Akonibe and Akurenam in the hinterland. In all these places, the Pious Schools have opened schools, parishes and even a boarding school in Akonibe.

However, it should be noted that in Ebibeyin we are still responsible for the administration of the Nza Abuy Secondary School, which is run by the Diocese of Ebibeyin. From next year, the province of Central Africa, to which Equatorial Guinea belongs, will return the school to the diocese, as a new school is being built on the outskirts of Ebibeyin.

During his visit, Fr Félicien visited all the communities and works in this Central African country, where the Piarist mission is having a real impact in the field of education. An important fact: the association that looks after the Catholic schools in Equatorial Guinea (ACCEGE) is run by a Piarist, Fr Pepe Bravo, who is doing a fantastic job.
