During the month of March 2024, the General Assistant for Africa visited the Piarist Vicariate in Congo. During this visit, Fr Félicien Mouendji first stayed at Scholasticate I in Kinshasa before travelling on to Kikonka, where he first took part in the solemn vows and then in the diaconate ordination of Fr Cyprien Mpuba Booto of Sainte Paula Montal. Our deacon was ordained by Msgr Crispin Kimbeni, Bishop of the Diocese of Kisantu, in the parish of St Peter of Kikonka in the presence of many Piarist confreres, priests, sisters and lay people.
After his ordination to the diaconate, Father Félicien spent three weeks in Kikonka, where we have a novitiate, a prenovitiate, a parish, a kindergarten, a primary school and a development centre for women. The parish is home to the Calasanctian Sisters of Celestina Donati. The Father did not miss the opportunity to visit them.
The visit ended with the golfing community in Kinshasa. Here there is a parish (Saint Jude), a primary school and a kindergarten as well as a secondary school under construction.
