Last Thursday, 25 May, the institutional act promoting the beatification and canonisation of Venerable Glicerio de Cristo Landriani Sch.P. (1588-1618) took place in the General House of San Pantaleo.

The Father General, who was accompanied by all the members of his Council and the Community of San Pantaleo, was visited by Piarists who had travelled from Hungary, Poland, Spain and Argentina for the occasion. In addition, representatives of the Institutes of the Calasanctian Family (Cavanis, Sisters Piarists, Society of Maria-Provolo, Calasanziane and Divina Pastora) and members of various Vatican dicasteries accompanied the General Curia on this important occasion.

The event, which focused on the figure and reputation of Landriani’s holiness, began with words from D. Alberto Royo Mejía, Faith Promoter in the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, followed by a presentation by the General Postulator. In the second part, the new reliquary for the Venerable’s heart, an updated portrait by the painter Raúl Berzosa from Málaga and the text “Heart and Soar” by Fr Marcelo Benítez Ferradás Sch.P. were presented. Father General concluded the ceremony by highlighting the importance of the figure and the cause of Landriani for the life and mission of the Pious Schools.

Glycerius of Christ Landriani Sch.P. was declared Venerable in 1931. Recognition of a miracle attributed to his intercession is necessary to beatify him. Learn more about Landriani by visiting the website www.landriani.org
