“It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”

Galatians 2:20

With profound gratitude to God, the Pious Schools of Mexico have celebrated our annual gathering of the Calasanz Movement on Saturday, 15th February. More than 300 people – children, adolescents, young people, adults, members of the Fraternity, and religious – took part, sharing the joy of living our Piarist identity.

In the context of this Jubilee Year we are experiencing as a Church, we gathered as “pilgrims of hope”, with the aim of overcoming fear through trust, finding serenity in times of discouragement, and believing even in the midst of doubt. We did so through a “community encounter”, which rekindled our encounter with Jesus, within the Calasanz Movement, at the service of others.

The gathering took place at the José María Morelos Institute in Ocotlán, Tlaxcala, where groups affiliated with the Calasanz Movement from various presences of the province came together, including Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Puebla, Oaxaca, Celaya (Guanajuato), Cañitas (Zacatecas), and Mexico City.

Additionally, with great hope and joy, we received letters from 13 groups within the province requesting their incorporation into the Calasanz Movement.

Throughout the day, we experienced moments of sharing, prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, a rally fostering interaction among all participants, as well as moments of fraternal meal sharing. The highlight of our gathering was a joint pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlán (a Jubilee temple), where we gave thanks to the Mother of God for her protection and guidance over the Pious Schools of Mexico and the Calasanz Movement.

We give thanks to God for this day, for the presence of children, adolescents, and young people, who live the Piarist charism with intensity, and for all of us who remain in the boat guided by Our Lord Jesus, so that, as the Calasanz Movement, we may continue to glorify Him and serve our neighbours with joy and love.
