On Saturday, May 22, Bishop Carlos Curiel Sch. P. was sworn in as Bishop of Carora.

The new bishop was received with great joy by the population, who could see him and applaud him during his city tour. A special tribute was paid to him in front of the Piarist School and the parish “San José de Calasanz,” with the traditional dances that constitute one of the signs of identity of our school.

The Eucharist of inauguration took place in the Marian sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá de Aregue and was attended, among other bishops, by the Apostolic Nuncio in Venezuela, Cardinal Baltasar Porras and the Bishop Administrator of the Diocese of Carora, Bishop Ubaldo Santana.

Our Order and the Central America and the Caribbean Province was represented by Fr. Provincial, Juan Alfonso Serra, and other religious assigned to Venezuela.

In his homily, Bishop Curiel expressed his availability and commitment to accompany the life of the diocese in deep communion with Pope Francis. He stressed his gratitude to Bolivia, where he has served for several years, and to the Order of the Pious Schools, to which he belongs with deep joy and thanksgiving to God.

At the end of the celebration, Fr. Juan Alfonso Serra read a letter sent by Fr. General, in which Fr. Pedro expressed the importance of Carora for our Order and his best wishes for the new bishop and the diocese as a whole.

We wish our brother Carlos, bishop of Carora, a fruitful episcopal ministry.
