Yesterday began the Second Assembly of the General Fraternity that has convened more than 70 people from all over the Order over the next 4 days, gathered to make the balance of the six-year period and continue to dream together. As Javier Aguirregabiria said in the presentation: “It is a time to live strongly the fraternity of encounter and to discern together where the Holy Spirit takes us”. So, on behalf of who convenes us, the Assembly has begun with a prayer, animated by the Fraternity of Mexico.

After a simple explanation of the plan of the coming days and a presentation of all the attendees, this afternoon’s centrality has been had by the intervention of Father General Pedro Aguado. With great clarity he has shared a reflection of how he sees the Fraternity, highlighting convictions, looking at the current reality, taking stock of the path traveled and looking at paths that open to us in the future. For Fr. General, “the Fraternity is a gift of the Holy Spirit and as such must be lived and assumed, it is an answer, a vocation that must be cared for, a form of participation that requires organization and structure”. During his presentation, Pedro Aguado explained some challenges of the Fraternity in the context of the next General Chapter emphasizing those Pious Schools going forth that also require reflection from the Fraternity in the light of missionary availability and interculturality. “Calasanz understood its context to, from there, respond”, this is our challenge “always being clear about the center, which is Jesus”, he explained.

During his presentation, Fr. General also highlighted three concrete proposals in which the Fraternity plays a prominent role. On the one hand, at the level of the Order, raising the presence of the Fraternity in all demarcations. Secondly, advancing in the formation of the Fraternity “to be demanding, to take care of the processes of definitive choice, to seek formulas to be more and more meaningful”. Finally, for the whole of the Pious Schools, “sharing dreams: what it means to be Pious Schools going forth, what the poor mean…”

A dialogue shared with him has closed the afternoon, in a virtual but very fraternal environment. At various times of the afternoon there have been significant experiences lived by the different fraternities, in today’s afternoon we have come a little closer to Argentina, Central America-Caribbean and Brazil.
